Overview

The Head of Strategic Communications & Marketing will provide strategic leadership in shaping and advancing African Ancestry Link’s communications- and marketing-led advocacy agenda. The role focuses on influencing awareness, engagement, partnerships, and policy conversations through compelling narratives, campaigns, and strategic communications rather than traditional lobbying. The Head will position AAL as a credible and influential voice by translating complex issues into clear, persuasive messaging and leveraging partnerships and platforms to amplify impact at national, regional, and global levels.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead AAL’s strategic communications, marketing, and advocacy positioning to strengthen visibility, credibility, and influence.
• Develop and guide narrative-driven campaigns that translate complex issues into clear, compelling messages for diverse audiences.
• Align communications and marketing efforts with advocacy goals, partnerships, and organizational priorities.
• Oversee high-quality content, including messaging frameworks, thought leadership, op-eds, and campaign materials.
• Build and leverage strategic partnerships to amplify reach, engagement, and advocacy impact.
• Advise senior leadership on messaging, public engagements, and external communications.
• Work collaboratively with internal teams to integrate communications and advocacy across programs and initiatives.
• Represent the organization in relevant forums, dialogues, and external engagements as needed.
• Monitor and assess the effectiveness of communications and marketing efforts using clear performance indicators.
• Contribute to learning, adaptation, and continuous improvement of communications and advocacy strategies.

Required Qualifications
• Degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, or a related field.
• 5–10+ years of experience in strategic communications, marketing, advocacy, or related roles.
• Proven ability to develop clear messaging, lead campaigns, and advise senior stakeholders.
• Strong writing, presentation, and communication skills.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: ₦200,000.00 - ₦300,000.00 per month
