Our client, a rapidly growing firm within the financial services sector, is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Financial Accountant to join their dynamic team in **Aba, Abia, NG**. This role offers a hybrid work arrangement, blending essential in-office collaboration with the flexibility of remote work. The successful candidate will be instrumental in managing the company's financial operations, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities: Oversee the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with relevant accounting standards (e.g., IFRS). Manage general ledger functions, including account reconciliations, journal entries, and balance sheet analysis. Develop and implement internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure financial integrity. Prepare tax computations and filings, working closely with external tax advisors. Assist in the budgeting and forecasting processes, providing insightful financial analysis. Support internal and external audits, ensuring all documentation is accurate and readily available. Identify opportunities for process improvements within the accounting function and implement best practices. Supervise and mentor junior accounting staff, fostering a collaborative and high-performing team environment. Stay abreast of changes in accounting regulations and standards, ensuring compliance. Liaise with other departments to gather financial information and provide support for their financial queries. Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, ensuring timely processing and reconciliation. Perform ad-hoc financial analysis and reporting as requested by senior management. Contribute to the development and implementation of new accounting software or systems. Ensure all financial transactions are accurately recorded and documented. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Professional accounting certification (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CPA) is highly desirable. Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in financial accounting roles. Strong knowledge of IFRS and Nigerian tax laws. Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks) and advanced Excel skills. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills. Strong communication and interpersonal abilities, with the capacity to work effectively with diverse teams. Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Experience in a hybrid work setting is advantageous.
