Job Description RMB Nigeria is looking to appoint a senior transactor within DFS. The individual must be an entrepreneurial self-starter who has the energy and passion to grow RMB’s IBD business in Nigeria. The successful candidate will also be required to provide corporate term lending and DCM solutions to clients based in West Africa (primarily Nigeria and Ghana). Key focus clients include Sovereigns, State Owned Enterprises, Supranational, Financial Institutions, Multinational, and large local indigenous corporates. The successful candidate will be responsible for: Lead the origination, structuring, and implementation process around bespoke term lending solutions. The candidate will be able to leverage the coverage and existing DFS staff, credit teams, IBD in-country head within RMBN, as well as the product skills based within DFS in South Africa and London Have an understanding of credit rating advisory and listing requirements that may be necessary to facilitate the issuance of bonds within Nigeria and Ghana Focus on developing strategic relationships with a target list of strategic names that have been identified as key to the RMBN and DFS strategy (this list of clients will be provided in the interview process), together with designated Coverage personnel Interact successfully with the in-country and South African credit team, in-country Global Markets and Treasury & Trade Solutions teams, as well as the rest of the IBD Broader African team Close transactions by obtaining the relevant internal approvals for the transaction and leading or actively participating in the successful conclusion of negotiations Add value to transactions for the benefit of RMB and/or the client through knowledge of credit risk Enhance the bankability of transactions by identifying and mitigating key risk issues Implement transactions by preparing or managing the preparation of complex multiple jurisdiction documents and compliance with all required procedures, laws, and regulations Monitoring & management of deals post-closure Other: Mentoring and coaching of junior Transactors Cross-selling of bank products to its clients Internal stakeholder relationship management Experience & Qualifications: At least 5 years of deal-making experience (corporate & structured finance) Prior relevant deal experience. Deal experience in Nigeria will be advantageous Relevant bachelor’s degree in relevant subject; ACCA, CFA, or MBA advantageous General Competencies: The successful candidate should have excellent communication and interpersonal skills in order to form lasting client relationships. S/he must be self–motivated and able to work well both in a team as well as independently. S/he must have the ability to apply knowledge and experience in a creative manner to add value to the department. S/he must maintain the highest degree of professionalism and business acumen. The successful candidate must be happy to travel both in West Africa and to South Africa (and internationally as required). Strong relationship-building skills, with the ability to fulfil a consultation profile to advise borrowers on processes and structures Sound verbal and written communication skills Ability to negotiate and persuade internal and external stakeholders Sound analytical skills Strong numerical reasoning skills The ability to plan and write reports Attention to detail and a passion for accuracy Ability to work well in a team environment Sound presentation skills Ability to identify key drivers and opportunities to add to the increased Return on Investment for RMB Knowledge of specialist sector skills Assertive Good level of resilience Sound administrative skills Technical Prerequisites: Understanding and knowledge of all financial instruments Broad knowledge of Tax, Law, and Accounting (an understanding of the taxation of companies, financial institutions, and shareholders will be advantageous). Deep understanding of credit analysis and debt structuring. A working knowledge of the law of contracts.
