Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
• Conduct routine inspections, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems including power distribution, switchgear, motors, generators, transformers, and control systems.
• Perform troubleshooting and diagnostic tests on electrical equipment to identify and resolve issues promptly, minimizing downtime and ensuring operational efficiency.
• Coordinate with other departments such as instrumentation, mechanical, and operations to ensure integrated functioning of electrical systems.
• Implement preventive maintenance programs to ensure equipment reliability and compliance with regulatory standards.
• Participate in the planning and execution of electrical system upgrades, modifications, and installations.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment performance, and inventory levels for electrical spare parts and components.
• Provide technical guidance and support to junior technicians and assist in their training and development.
• Monitor electrical parameters and alarms, implementing corrective actions as needed to maintain safe and efficient operations.
• Follow established safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment for oneself and the team.
• Collaborate with vendors and contractors as needed for specialized repairs, spare parts procurement, and technical support.
• Stay updated on industry best practices, new technologies, and regulatory requirements related to electrical systems in offshore environments.
• Actively participate in emergency response drills and procedures to ensure readiness for any potential incidents.
Requirements
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering or related field preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience working as an Electrical Technician in the offshore oil and gas industry, with specific experience on FPSOs preferred.
• Strong knowledge of electrical systems, including power distribution, motor controls, protective relays, and electrical codes and standards.
• Proficiency in reading electrical schematics, diagrams, and drawings.
• Hands-on experience with electrical testing and diagnostic equipment, as well as maintenance tools.
• Familiarity with relevant regulatory standards and safety protocols e.g., API, ISO, HSE.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
• Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a multicultural team.
• Physical fitness and willingness to work in challenging offshore conditions for extended periods.
