Job Summary
The Music Teacher is responsible for teaching music theory and practice to students,
developing their appreciation of music, and identifying and nurturing individual talents. The
role involves organizing music lessons, directing the school choir or band, preparing for
assemblies and events, and ensuring that music supports both academic learning and
spiritual growth within the school’s Christian framework.
Key Responsibilities
• Plan and deliver engaging music lessons that include theory, singing, and instrumental practice.
• Introduce students to a range of musical styles, instruments, and techniques.
• Teach students to read music notation and understand rhythm, melody, and harmony.
• Prepare and train students for school performances, concerts, and competitions.
• Direct and coordinate the school choir, band, or orchestra for assemblies and special programs.
• Integrate Christian songs, hymns, and worship music into the school’s music program.
• Identify musically gifted students and create opportunities for them to develop further.
• Ensure all musical instruments and equipment are properly maintained and stored.
• Develop lesson plans aligned with the curriculum and school objectives.
• Maintain attendance and performance records for all music classes and rehearsals.
• Collaborate with teachers and management to plan music for school ceremonies and chapel services.
• Promote music appreciation and discipline among students.
• Maintain order, safety, and Christian conduct during music classes and rehearsals.
• Encourage teamwork, confidence, and creativity through musical activities.
• Perform other related duties as assigned by the Vice Principal or Principal.
Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Music, Music Education, or Performing Arts.
• Minimum of 3 years’ teaching or performance experience (school setting preferred).
• Proficiency in at least one musical instrument and good knowledge of vocal training.
• Ability to read, teach, and compose music.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• High moral integrity and alignment with Christian worship and values.
