We are a growing consulting and digital business focused on accounting, finance operations, and business support for nonprofits and small organizations. We are looking for a highly motivated Finance & Operations Assistant to support internal accounting, client bookkeeping, and business growth activities.

This role is ideal for an early-career accounting professional who wants hands-on experience across accounting, operations, and business development in a fast-growing startup environment.

You will work directly with the Founder and gain exposure to real client work, financial systems, and international operations.

Key Responsibilities

Accounting, Finance & Client Support
• Record and organize financial transactions in Excel and accounting software
• Maintain organized receipt files and supporting documentation for internal bookkeeping
• Prepare basic financial reports for internal and client use (expense tracking, summaries, draft P&L)
• Support budget preparation, budget tracking, and variance analysis for internal operations and client projects
• Assist with grant-related financial tasks including budget reviews, expense tracking, and reporting preparation
• Support preparation of client deliverables including bookkeeping schedules, financial summaries, and budget documents (all work reviewed by Founder)
• Assist with client onboarding documentation and gathering required financial information
• Draft professional finance-related emails (client follow-ups, grant inquiries, document requests)
• Maintain Excel trackers for client work, grants, and internal financial processes
• Support month-end close activities (prepaids, expense reviews, basic reconciliations under supervision)
• Handle confidential financial information with professionalism and discretion
• Participate in weekly reporting and deliver progress updates on assigned accounting tasks

Lead Generation, Email Marketing & Business Support
• Support lead generation through research and outreach using provided grant and prospecting pipelines
• Draft and send professional outreach emails to potential clients and partners
• Support basic email marketing campaigns and follow-ups
• Assist with LinkedIn posting and business visibility activities
• Research tools and strategies to grow the business (SEO, outreach tools, CRM suggestions)
• Track leads and outreach progress in Excel
• Recommend tools and processes to improve operations and client acquisition

Operations & Administrative Support
• Support daily operations including document organization, tracking deliverables, and maintaining internal workflows
• Assist with scheduling, task tracking, and weekly reporting
• Support internal bookkeeping for the business
• Prepare weekly written progress reports
• Attend weekly check-in meetings with Founder
• Participate in Saturday review meetings (approximately 1 hour)

Working Hours
• Monday to Friday
• Core hours aligned with Eastern Standard Time (Canada/US)

Expected working hours:

11:00 AM – 8:00 PM WAT (includes 1-hour unpaid break)

Saturday:
• One hour weekly check-in meeting (remote)

Compensation
• Base Salary: ₦150,000 per month
• Internet Allowance: ₦20,000 per month

Performance Bonus
• Performance bonus ranging from ₦50,000 – ₦200,000, only when clients are onboarded.
• Bonus is based on overall contribution, client support workload, and business growth impact
• Bonus is not per client and not guaranteed

Qualifications
• ICAN student member or currently enrolled in ICAN (preferred)
• Degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• Strong Excel skills (comfortable with formulas, organizing data, trackers)
• Basic understanding of bookkeeping and financial statements
• Willingness to learn QuickBooks and Xero
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow structured processes
• Reliable internet access and personal laptop
• Comfortable working remotely and communicating professionally
• Self-starter with ability to work independently and meet deadlines
• Strong written English for professional emails and documentation
