Overview
Leads the design and implementation of an innovative teacher professional development solution under the Reaching Out-of-School Children (ROOSC) Project in Kaduna State, Nigeria. The role provides technical leadership in education technology, instructional design, and digital or blended learning systems to strengthen teachers’ capacity to deliver inclusive, learner-centred, and effective teaching.
Acts as the key technical expert responsible for aligning teacher needs, education system requirements, and practical delivery approaches suitable for low-resource environments. Works closely with education stakeholders, teachers, and project partners to ensure the solution is contextually relevant, scalable, and sustainable.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide technical leadership in the design and implementation of a teacher professional development solution.
• Conduct teacher-centred needs assessments and analyze professional development gaps.
• Review existing teacher training materials and identify opportunities for improvement and localization.
• Design or adapt digital, analogue, or blended learning solutions that support ongoing teacher learning.
• Ensure the solution supports inclusive pedagogy, foundational literacy and numeracy instruction, lesson planning, classroom management, and assessment practices.
• Develop solutions that function effectively in low-resource environments with limited internet or electricity access.
• Support pilot implementation in selected schools or learning centres in Kaduna State.
• Provide orientation and training to teachers, headteachers, and Quality Assurance Officers (QAOs).
• Design mechanisms to capture user feedback and measure solution effectiveness.
• Collaborate with monitoring and evaluation teams to define indicators and assess impact.
• Refine and improve the solution based on pilot results and user experience.
• Contribute to documentation and technical guidance to support scalability and long-term sustainability.

Profile
• Proven experience in education technology, teacher professional development, or digital learning solutions.
• Experience working with education stakeholders in Nigeria or similar contexts.
• Strong expertise in instructional design, digital learning systems, or human-centred design approaches.
• Demonstrated ability to design and implement solutions suitable for low-resource education environments.
• Experience collaborating with government education stakeholders, schools, and development partners is highly desirable.
Location
Kaduna State, Nigeria (project implementation context; field engagement with local education stakeholders may be required).
Time Commitment
Duration: Up to 12 months
Engagement aligned with project phases including research, solution development, pilot implementation, and final reporting.
