Our client, a prestigious financial institution, is seeking a highly analytical and driven Senior Investment Banking Analyst to join their Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) team. This hybrid role requires a strong presence in the Calabar, Cross River, NG office, complemented by the flexibility of remote work for specific tasks and periods. You will be instrumental in advising clients on strategic transactions, conducting in-depth financial analysis, and managing deal execution from origination to closing.
Responsibilities: Develop complex financial models, including DCF, LBO, comparable company analysis, and precedent transaction analysis. Prepare comprehensive marketing materials, including pitch books, confidential information memorandums (CIMs), management presentations, and board materials. Assist in the origination and execution of M&A transactions across various industries. Conduct due diligence on potential target companies and strategic partners. Manage client relationships and act as a key point of contact throughout the transaction process. Support senior bankers in deal negotiation and structuring. Perform industry research and company analysis to identify potential transaction opportunities. Coordinate with legal counsel, accountants, and other advisors throughout the deal lifecycle. Monitor market trends and identify implications for clients and the firm. Assist in preparing regulatory filings and other transaction-related documentation. Mentor and guide junior analysts on the team. Attend client meetings and present findings and recommendations. Ensure accuracy and quality of all analyses and documentation. Manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines. Contribute to the firm's knowledge base and business development efforts. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a related quantitative field. An MBA or advanced degree is a strong plus. Minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience in investment banking, corporate finance, private equity, or transaction advisory services, with a strong focus on M&A. Exceptional financial modeling, valuation, and analytical skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word. Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial statements. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex financial concepts clearly. High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy. Ability to work effectively under pressure, manage multiple projects, and meet strict deadlines. Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive, results-oriented approach. Team player with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build rapport with clients and colleagues. Understanding of the Nigerian financial market and regulatory environment is advantageous. Demonstrated interest in corporate finance and capital markets. Discretion and professionalism in handling confidential information. Willingness to travel as required for client meetings and deal execution. Relevant professional certifications (e.g., CFA) are a plus.
