Job Description
To monitor and control the performance of the facilities in the field, while undertaking routine and troubleshooting operations in conjunction with the control room operator. Execute production and routine first line maintenance activities and ensuring that production targets are met.
Responsibilities
• Safe controls in start-up / shutdown of plant and process equipment.
• Take guidance from the control operators on field operation requirements.
• Ensure compliance of plant operation within the operating envelope and guidelines.
• Monitor equipment performance/operability and effectively troubleshoot any process upset and associated oil/gas facilities. Conduct and produce regular station operations and equipment report.
• Ensure that all routine maintenance and operations and non-routine operations, inspection, servicing, and repair activities for all Wellhead and surface equipment are implemented to appropriate standards.
• Liaise with concerned parties on current operating conditions.
• Produce daily operations report, highlighting equipment and process faults compiled from operators timely.
• Assist the team leader in preparation of monthly plant performance and equipment run hours, including availability statistics.
• Operate plant-safeguarding systems located in the field.
• Maintain good housekeeping within the plant areas.
• Manually Isolate and depressurize process equipment for maintenance as directed/required.
• Monitor wells performance monthly through well testing.
• Take requested samples for analyses, take and record field data requested for general monitoring of plant performance.
• Maintain records of plant activities such as isolations and LOTO
• Update the incoming field operator on the plant status and activities.
Qualifications
• Associates degree or 2-year technical diploma in Process Technology, Chemical Engineering, or related field.
• Minimum 4 years of experience as a field operator in oil and gas production.
• Knowledge of wellhead equipment, surface processing facilities, and production operations.
• Familiarity with LOTO (Lockout/Tagout) procedures and permit-to-work systems.
• Experience with well testing and routine production monitoring.
• Ability to read and interpret P&IDs and equipment manuals.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for shift handover and daily reporting.
• Physical fitness to work in field environments in Rivers State, Nigeria.
