Job Description
The Business Manager is a senior executive leadership role responsible for driving overall business strategy, engineering project execution oversight, commercial performance, operational excellence, and multi-disciplinary engineering integration across Oil & Gas operations.
The role requires a highly experienced engineering professional (15–20 years) with strong technical grounding in Electrical, Mechanical, and Instrumentation engineering systems, combined with deep expertise in business management, project execution, EPC delivery, and commercial leadership.
This role operates at the highest level of the organisation and is responsible for business growth, engineering governance, project portfolio performance, and strategic stakeholder management across complex oil and gas operations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIESA. Strategic Business Leadership
• Provide executive leadership in the development and execution of the company’s Oil & Gas business strategy
• Drive long-term business growth, diversification, and market expansion initiatives
• Identify high-value opportunities across upstream, midstream, and downstream sectors
• Develop strategic partnerships, alliances, and joint venture opportunities
• Provide board-level insights on business performance, risks, and opportunities
B. Engineering & Technical Oversight (Multi-Disciplinary)
• Provide overarching technical leadership across:
• Electrical systems (power distribution, control systems, HV/LV installations)
• Mechanical systems (rotating equipment, piping, maintenance systems)
• Instrumentation & Control (automation, PLC/DCS systems, field instrumentation)
• Ensure engineering designs and execution comply with international standards (API, ASME, IEC, ISO)
• Review and approve complex engineering solutions across projects
• Ensure integration of engineering disciplines for optimal project execution
C. Project & EPC Management Oversight
• Oversee end-to-end execution of oil and gas projects
• Ensure projects are delivered within scope, budget, and schedule constraints
• Monitor project KPIs, milestones, and performance benchmarks
• Provide executive intervention on critical project issues and escalations
• Ensure alignment between engineering execution and business objectives
D. Commercial & Business Development
• Lead business development initiatives and high-value contract acquisition
• Oversee commercial negotiations for multi-million-dollar oil and gas projects
• Review and approve bids, tenders, and proposals for strategic projects
• Drive revenue growth and profitability across business units
• Ensure strong commercial governance and risk-adjusted decision-making
E. Contract & Financial Oversight
• Provide executive oversight on major project contracts and commercial agreements
• Review financial performance of projects and business units
• Ensure cost control, budget adherence, and profitability optimization
• Work closely with Finance on forecasting, budgeting, and financial planning
• Mitigate financial risks associated with engineering and project execution
F. Operational Excellence & Governance
• Establish and enforce operational standards across engineering and project teams
• Ensure compliance with HSE regulations and international safety standards
• Drive continuous improvement in engineering processes and project delivery systems
• Ensure governance frameworks are implemented across all business operations
G. Leadership & Stakeholder Management
• Lead and mentor senior engineering, project, and commercial teams
• Interface with C-suite executives, board members, clients, regulators, and partners
• Represent the company in high-level industry engagements and negotiations
• Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders in the oil and gas ecosystem
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering ONLY (Mandatory Requirement)
• Electrical Engineering / Mechanical Engineering / Instrumentation Engineering
• Minimum of 15–20 years post-qualification experience in Oil & Gas industry
• Strong exposure across Electrical, Mechanical, and Instrumentation engineering disciplines
• Proven experience in EPC, EPCM, or major oil and gas project environments
• PMP certification or equivalent project management certification is mandatory or highly preferred
