Job Purpose
• The Quantitative Interpretation QI Geophysicist will execute selected projects within the Growth & Portfolio and Quantitative Interpretation team.
• The Geophysical Studies and QI team is responsible for supporting geophysical projects across the Growth, Asset, and Exploration teams through fit-for-purpose QI work.
• This role requires knowledge of key QI workflows and 4D technology areas such as AVO modelling, seismic inversion, 3D/4D seismic close-the-loop and time-lapse seismic interpretation, including modelling and managing VSP operations and geohazard assessments for onshore and shallow water settings.
Responsibilities
• The position reports to the Head, Quantitative Interpretation QI. The successful candidate will have direct responsibility for selected projects, with key accountabilities including the following:
• Execute special studies and QI projects, including geohazard assessments, in close collaboration with subsurface evaluation teams
• Drive effective integration across subsurface disciplines within the asset to maximize value from seismic data
• Ensure timely and appropriate geophysical input into static and dynamic model building
• Initiate and actively participate in peer reviews of QI projects to assure technical quality and consistency
• Provide expert advice to subsurface evaluation teams on the optimal use of geophysical data and the application of best practices
• Ensure early involvement in subsurface studies, seismic survey design, and the re-processing of seismic data gathers to maximize QI impact
• Support the development of junior staff and interns through knowledge transfer, coaching, and mentoring of QI team members. Actively promote knowledge sharing, performance improvement, and cost leadership initiatives within the team
• Demonstrate visible leadership in Personal and Process Safety, ensuring full compliance with Renaissance Geophysical standards
Job Dimension:
• The role provides QI support and requirements for:
• Approximately 7–10 new drill wells per year
• Approximately 3–5 oil and gas growth projects per year
Requirements
• University degree in Geophysics or a related discipline with a minimum of 3 years’ relevant work experience.
• Proven professional experience in Geophysics, including direct involvement in special studies and QI. Proficiency in the use of third-party subsurface interpretation software, with working knowledge of seismic processing
• Recent hands-on experience applying quantitative interpretation techniques, including DHI analysis, interpretation support, AVO analysis, geohazard assessment, seismic inversion, reservoir characterization, and rock physics analysis
• Familiarity with industry-standard tools such as Petrel, RokDoc, and Jason Workbench. Candidates should clearly highlight their experience with these applications
• Experienced QI Geophysicist with strong grounding in seismic interpretation, exploration evaluation, seismic inversion, and geohazard assessments

The successful candidate should demonstrate:
• Good understanding of Subsurface HSE Critical Uncertainties and Design Engineering Practices DEPs as they relate to Field Development Planning and Well Proposal delivery
• Sound appreciation of other Petroleum Engineering and Geoscience disciplines, including Production Geology PG, Petrophysics PP, and Reservoir Engineering RE
• Ability to work effectively within multi-disciplinary and collaborative teams, including co-located resources
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate technical outcomes and proactively engage team leads on key findings
• Solid understanding of subsurface uncertainties, technical risks, and challenges associated with subsurface and surface development opportunities
• Proven interpersonal, influencing, and stakeholder management skills.
