Job Summary
:
We are seeking a highly experienced and detail-oriented Head of Accounts to lead and oversee the organisation’s financial accounting and reporting processes. The ideal candidate will ensure accuracy, compliance, and timeliness of financial information, strengthen internal controls, and provide strategic financial insights to support business decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
:
• Oversee the preparation and presentation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in line with IFRS and regulatory requirements.
• Ensure financial reports are accurate, complete, auditable, and delivered within set timelines.
• Provide financial analysis and insights to support management decisions.
• Maintain ownership of accounting systems (e.g., QuickBooks), ensuring accuracy and completeness of financial data.
• Coordinate and manage month-end and year-end closing processes.
• Oversee bank and general ledger reconciliations, ensuring discrepancies are resolved promptly.
• Manage accounts payable processes, ensuring timely and accurate recording of liabilities and vendor payments.
• Maintain and oversee the fixed asset register, including capitalisation, depreciation, and disposal.
• Ensure proper accounting for Right-of-Use (ROU) assets in line with IFRS standards.
• Strengthen internal controls and ensure compliance with regulatory and company policies.
• Lead internal and external audit processes and ensure timely resolution of audit issues.
• Supervise, mentor, and develop the accounting team to drive performance and efficiency.
Requirements
:
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Professional certification (ICAN or ACCA) is mandatory.
• Minimum of 10 years’ accounting experience, with at least 4 years in a leadership role.
• Proven experience in retail, supermarket, or FMCG environments with high transaction volumes.
• Experience managing Big 4 audit processes.
• Strong knowledge of IFRS, Nigerian tax regulations, and internal control systems.
• Proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks or ERP systems).
• Advanced Excel and strong analytical skills.
• Strong leadership, communication, and team management skills.
