Job Description
Responsibilities

• Provide specialized nursing care to patients with cardiac conditions including heart failure, hypertension, myocardial infarction, arrhythmias, and post-cardiac procedures.
• Monitor cardiac rhythms using ECG machines and telemetry systems; interpret basic ECG traces and report abnormalities promptly.
• Administer cardiac medications, IV therapies, and emergency drugs as prescribed.
• Assist cardiologists during consultations, echocardiograms, stress tests, and other cardiac procedures.
• Perform wound care, IV cannulation, and other clinical procedures specific to cardiac patients.
• Educate patients and families on heart-healthy lifestyle, medication adherence, risk factor modification, and disease management.
• Maintain accurate patient records and documentation in line with hospital protocols.
• Respond promptly to cardiac emergencies and participate in life-saving interventions (CPR, defibrillation, etc.).
• Collaborate effectively with cardiologists, physicians, and multidisciplinary teams.
• Ensure strict adherence to infection prevention, patient safety, and cardiac care protocols.
Qualifications
• Bachelor of Nursing Science (B.N.Sc.) or Registered Nurse (RN) qualification from a recognized institution.
• Valid practicing license from the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN).
• National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) certificate (completed) where applicable.
• Minimum of 2–3 years post-qualification experience, with at least 1 year in cardiology, CCU, or critical care.
• Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) is an added advantage.
Requirements & Skills:
• Valid practicing license from the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN).
• Strong clinical skills in cardiac monitoring and emergency response.
• Compassionate, empathetic, and patient-focused attitude.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced cardiac unit.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Computer literate with basic knowledge of hospital information systems.
• Commitment to ethical practice, confidentiality, and continuous professional development.
