Job Description
A Microfinance Bank is seeking a competent, detail-oriented, and experienced Head of Accounts to oversee the bank’s financial operations, reporting processes, regulatory compliance, and reconciliation activities. The ideal candidate will possess strong accounting and banking experience with the ability to manage financial records accurately while ensuring compliance with internal controls and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities

Oversee the daily operations of the Accounts Department.

· Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.

· Manage general ledger activities and ensure proper documentation of financial transactions.

· Conduct bank reconciliations and account reconciliations regularly.

· Monitor cash flow, budgeting, and financial planning activities.

· Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and accounting standards.

· Prepare and submit statutory reports to relevant regulatory bodies.

· Supervise payroll processing and tax remittances.

· Coordinate internal and external audit activities.

· Maintain proper financial controls and risk management procedures.

· Monitor expenses and advise management on cost optimization strategies.

· Support management with financial analysis and decision-making reports.

Requirements & Qualifications

· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Banking, or related discipline.

· Professional certification such as ICAN, ACCA, or ACA will be an added advantage.

· Minimum of 4–6 years relevant experience in banking or financial services.

· Previous experience in a Microfinance Bank is highly preferred.

· Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting.

· Experience with reconciliation and rendition processes is an added advantage.

· Proficiency in QuickBooks accounting software is an added advantage.

· Experience using BankOne software is an added advantage.

· MCIB certification will be an added advantage.

· Strong analytical, leadership, and communication skills.

· High level of integrity, accuracy, and attention to detail.

· Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other financial tools.
