OVERVIEW

We are seeking an experienced Head of Project Managers to lead the Project Management function across multiple EPC projects. This role is responsible for ensuring successful project execution from award through completion, with a strong focus on planning, delivery control, cost management, financial performance, governance, and accountability across all Project Managers.
The ideal candidate will be a hands-on senior project leader with deep EPC execution experience, strong commercial and financial acumen, and the ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously.

KEY RESPNSIBILITIES

Project Portfolio Leadership

• Lead and coordinate Project Managers across active EPC projects.

• Ensure consistent project execution standards across the project portfolio.

• Act as the primary escalation point for project execution issues.

• Support leadership in prioritizing projects, resources, and delivery needs.

Project Planning & Execution Control

• Ensure robust project planning, including baseline schedules, milestones, and resource loading.

• Oversee project tracking, progress measurement, and reporting systems.

• Identify and mitigate delays, risks, and bottlenecks early.

• Drive discipline in project execution and adherence to approved plans.

Financial Performance & Profitability Control

• Monitor project profitability, including budget vs. actual vs. forecast.

• Ensure accurate cost tracking, cost-to-complete reporting, and margin forecasting.

• Work closely with Finance and Commercial teams to ensure financial discipline.

• Identify project deviations and drive corrective actions to protect margins.

Project Governance & Controls

• Establish and enforce strong project governance frameworks.

• Ensure proper documentation, approvals, and change order control.

• Oversee compliance with internal procedures and contractual obligations.

• Strengthen risk management practices across all projects.

Team Leadership & Capability Building

• Lead, coach, and develop Project Managers and Project Engineers.

• Build a high-performance project delivery culture.

• Standardize tools, templates, and best practices across project teams.

• Support recruitment and onboarding of project management talent.

Stakeholder & Client Interface

• Support Project Managers in key client interactions and negotiations.

• Ensure alignment between Operations, Commercial, Procurement, and HSE.

• Manage high-level client escalations when required.

Reporting & Performance Management

• Deliver regular project performance dashboards to senior leadership.

• Ensure accurate reporting on schedule, cost, risks, and margins.

• Drive data-driven decision-making across the project portfolio.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS

• Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related discipline.

• 10–15+ years of experience in EPC, oil & gas, or industrial project execution.

• Experience working in Nigeria or similar countries.

• Minimum 5 years in a senior project management or portfolio leadership role.

• Strong experience in project controls, planning, and cost management.

• Proven ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously.

• Strong commercial and financial acumen in project environments.

• Excellent leadership, communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills.
