Main Function
• The Process/Operations Manager will be responsible for directing, optimizing, and securing the daily operations of the company’s oil and gas production and processing facilities.
• The role requires deep expertise in hydrocarbon processing, asset integrity, facility commissioning, and international safety standards such as API, ASME, and ISO.
• The candidate must be well-versed in local and international regulatory frameworks, environmental compliance, and cost-efficient production strategies.
• This position is heavily technical and operations-focused: ensuring that oil and gas assets operate at peak throughput, remain fully compliant, prevent unscheduled downtime, and maximize profitability safely.
Role Responsibilities
Production Optimization & Facility Operations:
• Manage end-to-end processing and production operations onshore, offshore, or midstream facilities.
• Oversee the performance of processing units, separation systems, gas compression, and stabilization plants to achieve production targets.
• Lead the troubleshooting of complex process upsets, optimize chemical injection regimes, and implement debottlenecking strategies to maximize hydrocarbon throughput.
Asset Integrity, Maintenance & Engineering Oversight:
• Develop, implement, and monitor comprehensive preventative and predictive maintenance programs for all static and rotating equipment.
• Oversee process safety management PSM initiatives, including leading or participating in HAZOP Hazard and Operability and HAZID studies.
• Collaborate with engineering teams on facility modifications, upgrades, and brownfield or greenfield project integration.
Regulatory Compliance & HSE Leadership:
• Ensure all processing activities strictly comply with regional petroleum regulations, local content laws, and international environmental standards.
• Drive a relentless "Zero Harm" safety culture, ensuring strict adherence to Permit to Work PTW systems, Lockout/Tagout LOTO, and emergency response protocols.
• Liaise with external environmental and energy regulators for facility audits, emission tracking, and licensing renewals.
Stakeholder Engagement & Technical Interface:
• Build and maintain strategic relationships with joint-venture partners, host communities, and regulatory authorities to ensure uninterrupted operations.
• Manage relationships with major oilfield service providers, specialized technical vendors, and contractors.
• Provide high-level operational updates and technical briefs to senior executives and external technical committees.
Financial Management, Budgeting & Reporting:
• Develop and manage the annual Operational Expenditure OPEX and Capital Expenditure CAPEX budgets for the facilities.
• Monitor key performance indicators KPIs related to production efficiency, chemical consumption, and lifting costs per barrel.
• Prepare regular technical, operational, and financial progress reports for executive management.
Experience / Qualification
• Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• Master’s Degree in Engineering Management or an MBA is an advantage.
• Professional certification/registration with recognized engineering bodies e.g., COREN, NSE, IChemE, or SPE.
• 10+ years’ proven experience in upstream or midstream oil and gas operations, with at least 4 years in a supervisory or managerial capacity.
• Deep knowledge of gas processing, crude oil separation, fiscal metering, and process automation SCADA/DCS systems.
