Job Title: Project Manager & Head of Farm Maintenance
Job Summary
We are seeking a versatile, hands-on Project Manager and Head of Maintenance to lead the physical development and long-term upkeep of our farm facility. This is a dynamic, dual-phase role. During the initial phase, you will act as a construction manager, directly aiding in the building and setup of various departmental infrastructures. Once the facility opens, the role will transition into a permanent Head of Maintenance position, responsible for ensuring all agricultural equipment, departmental buildings, and mechanical systems operate efficiently.
Phase 1: Construction & Development Responsibilities
• Supervise daily construction activities across all farm zones, coordinating effectively with external contractors and laborers.
• Perform direct, hands-on carpentry, plumbing, and basic electrical work to support the build-out of animal housing, greenhouses, and storage facilities.
• Monitor construction timelines to ensure projects stay on schedule and within the allocated budget.
• Source, order, and manage inventory for construction materials and hardware.
• Conduct quality control inspections on all structural work, fencing installations, and initial utility setups.
Phase 2: Ongoing Maintenance by Department
Livestock & Poultry Department
• Maintain and repair animal enclosures, structural fencing, and predator-proofing systems.
• Ensure the continuous operation of automated feeding and watering systems.
• Service climate control systems, including ventilation fans, heating lamps, and HVAC units in indoor housing facilities.
• Oversee the mechanical functionality of waste management and sanitation systems.
Crop, Orchard & Greenhouse Department
• Troubleshoot and repair complex irrigation systems, including drip lines, overhead sprinklers, and water pumping stations.
• Maintain greenhouse structural integrity and repair automated climate sensors, shade cloths, and humidity controls.
• Service specialized growing equipment, such as hydroponic or aquaponic water circulation pumps.
Processing, Packaging & Storage Department
• Perform preventative maintenance on industrial cold storage units, walk-in refrigerators, and climate-controlled silos.
• Service and calibrate sorting, washing, and packaging machinery.
• Ensure all processing facility infrastructure adheres to strict agricultural health, safety, and operational compliance standards.
Heavy Equipment & Machinery Responsibilities
• Develop and execute a strict preventative maintenance schedule for all heavy mobile equipment, including tractors, utility vehicles (UTVs), and skid steers.
• Repair and maintain Power Take-Off (PTO) attachments, such as tillers, mowers, seeders, and balers.
• Maintain essential backup utility systems, primarily high-capacity diesel generators and main electrical panels.
• Manage the inventory of spare parts, lubricants, and essential tools required for rapid mechanical repairs.
Required Qualifications & Skills
• Proven background in construction management, general contracting, or comprehensive farm operations.
• Advanced hands-on mechanical skills with direct experience servicing diesel engines, hydraulics, and agricultural machinery.
• Proficiency in carpentry, commercial plumbing, and electrical troubleshooting.
• Ability to read and interpret construction blueprints, electrical schematics, and technical equipment manuals.
• Strong physical stamina and the ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
• Excellent problem-solving abilities with a proactive, "fix-it-first" mentality.
Pay: ₦150,000.00 - ₦300,000.00 per year
