Job summary

The Sales Area Manager (SAM) is responsible for driving sales performance, customer acquisition, revenue growth, and energy utilization across 10 rural communities in 3 states. This is a field-intensive and target-driven leadership role, requiring strong execution capability, hands-on team supervision, and deep community engagement skills.

Responsibilities:

Sales, Delivery, and Revenue Expansion:

• Drive customer acquisition, onboarding, and service activation across assigned communities

• Deliver on connections, revenue, consumption, and ARPU targets in line with Welight’s growth plans

• Execute community-specific sales strategies to expand the household and SME customer base

• Promote Welight’s energy solutions, including productive use appliances, to deepen energy adoption

• Identify and develop new demand opportunities to accelerate commercial growth

Field Team Leadership and Performance Management:

• Lead and manage Commercial Agents to ensure strong field presence and consistent execution

• Provide hands-on, onboarding, and regular performance review for Commercial Agents

• Support recruitment, onboarding, and continuous capability development of field teams

• Build a disciplined, accountable, and high-performing sales culture

• Address performance gaps promptly and implement corrective actions

Community Engagement and Trust Building:

• Build strong relationships with community leaders, CPC members, and key stakeholders

• Drive community buy-in and sustained acceptance of Welight’s services

• Proactively resolve community concerns and remove barriers to adoption

• Position WeLight as a trusted long-term energy partner in each community

Field Operations & Coordination:

• Coordinate day-to-day field sales activities across multiple communities

• Conduct regular field visits to ensure quality execution and adherence to Welight’s processes and standards

• Organize daily/weekly sales briefings and performance check-ins with field teams

• Work closely with operations and the customer service team to ensure seamless customer onboarding and experience

• Maintain discipline in field processes and operational coordination

Performance Tracking, Market Insights, and Compliance:

• Track daily/weekly sales performance, connections, and revenue collection

• Generate structured field insights to inform decision-making and strategy refinement

• Track community market dynamics, including alternative energy sources and customer behaviour

• Capture and escalate customer feedback to improve product-market fit

• Ensure full compliance with Welight policies, ethical standards, and community engagement protocols

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Social Sciences, or related field

• Minimum 4 years’ experience in sales, field operations, or community-based distribution

• Proven experience managing field sales teams or agents

• Strong knowledge of rural markets and community dynamics

• Ability to travel extensively across assigned states

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills

• Proficiency in smartphone-based reporting and basic digital tools
