Job Title: Human Resources (HR) Assistant

Job Summary
We are seeking a proactive, organized, and detail-oriented Human Resources Assistant with a minimum of two (2) years of relevant HR experience, preferably within the construction, engineering, or mining sector. The successful candidate will support the Human Resources function by assisting with recruitment, employee onboarding, personnel administration, performance management, payroll support, employee relations, and compliance with labour laws and company policies.
The ideal candidate should have experience managing HR processes for both office-based and site-based employees and be capable of working in a fast-paced operational environment.
Key Responsibilities
• Assist in the end-to-end recruitment process, including job postings, candidate screening, interview coordination, reference checks, and onboarding.
• Maintain accurate and confidential employee records, ensuring all personnel files are complete and up to date.
• Prepare employment contracts, confirmation letters, transfer letters, disciplinary correspondence, and other HR documentation.
• Coordinate employee onboarding, orientation, and induction programmes for new hires.
• Monitor employee attendance, leave administration, time sheets, and absenteeism records.
• Support payroll administration by preparing and verifying employee data, attendance records, overtime, and statutory deductions.
• Assist in implementing performance management processes, including appraisal scheduling and documentation.
• Coordinate employee training, certifications, and mandatory compliance programmes, particularly for site personnel.
• Ensure employees possess valid licences, certifications, and mandatory safety training required for construction, engineering, or mining operations.
• Support employee engagement initiatives, welfare programmes, and staff communication activities.
• Assist in handling employee grievances and disciplinary matters in accordance with company policies.
• Ensure compliance with labour legislation, company policies, and health, safety, and environmental (HSE) requirements.
• Prepare monthly HR reports, workforce statistics, recruitment reports, and other management reports.
• Liaise with project managers and site supervisors on workforce planning and staffing requirements.
• Support audits by maintaining accurate HR documentation and statutory records.
• Perform other HR and administrative duties as assigned by the HR Manager.
Qualifications
• Bachelor's Degree or Higher National Diploma (HND) in Human Resources, Business Administration, Industrial Relations, Psychology, or a related discipline.
• Professional HR certification (CIPM, SHRM, HRCI, or equivalent) is an added advantage.
Experience
• Minimum of two (2) years' experience in Human Resources.
• Previous HR experience within the construction, engineering, mining, or related industrial sector is highly preferred.
• Experience supporting both office and field/site employees will be an advantage.
• Knowledge of Nigerian labour laws, HR best practices and NJIC terms and conditions of service.
Required Skills and Competencies
• Strong knowledge of HR administration and recruitment processes.

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• High level of integrity and ability to maintain confidentiality.
• Good knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and Word.
• Experience using HRIS or payroll software is an added advantage.
• Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and site personnel.
Preferred Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will have experience working in a construction, engineering, or mining environment and understand the HR requirements associated with project-based operations, including workforce mobilization, site deployments, contractor management, compliance documentation, and HSE-related personnel records. The candidate should be adaptable, proactive, and capable of supporting HR operations across multiple project locations.

Working Conditions
• Full-time position.
• Standard office working hours with occasional overtime when required.
• May be required to support recruitment events, training sessions, or company activities outside regular office hours.
