Job Summary
• Fina Trust Microfinance Bank Limited is seeking an experienced and strategic Credit Manager to lead its Credit function.
• The successful candidate will be responsible for driving sound credit underwriting, maintaining a high-quality loan portfolio, strengthening credit risk management practices, and ensuring compliance with the Bank's Credit Policy and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead the credit appraisal and underwriting process across the Bank's lending portfolio, including SME, consumer, salary-backed, and asset finance facilities.
• Review and approve credit proposals within delegated authority while recommending complex facilities to the appropriate Credit Committee.
• Assess customers' financial capacity, cash flows, collateral adequacy, and overall creditworthiness.
• Monitor Portfolio at Risk PAR, Non-Performing Loans NPLs, and portfolio concentration, implementing proactive measures to maintain portfolio quality.
• Develop and implement effective credit risk management strategies and recommend improvements to underwriting standards and credit processes.
• Ensure proper credit documentation, collateral perfection, and compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements.
• Prepare and present periodic credit portfolio reports, performance analysis, and approval trends to Executive Management and relevant Committees.
• Collaborate closely with Business Development, Operations, Recovery, Legal, Finance, Compliance, and Risk teams to support quality lending decisions.
• Lead, coach, and develop the Credit team while driving a culture of accountability, operational excellence, and continuous improvement.
Requirements
• Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Banking, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
• Master's degree and/or professional certification ACIB, ACA, ACCA, CFA, FRM, etc. will be an added advantage.
• 7–10 years' banking or financial services experience, with at least 5 years in Credit Risk Management or Credit Underwriting and 3 years in a leadership role.
• Demonstrated experience in SME lending, consumer lending, salary-backed loans, asset finance, and credit approvals.
• Strong knowledge of financial statement analysis, loan structuring, collateral evaluation, credit bureau analysis, portfolio management, and regulatory requirements.
• Experience presenting credit proposals to Management or Board Credit Committees is highly desirable.
