About the role
• This role involves providing experienced nursing care and senior clinical guidance within in-patient nursing 24-hour ward-based care while supporting and supervising junior nursing staff.

Responsibilities
• Provide experienced nursing care and act as a senior clinical resource within the stream.
• Supervise and support junior nursing staff and trainees.
• Assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care for patients within the stream.
• Administer medications and treatments accurately within scope of practice.
• Maintain accurate, complete and timely nursing records and apply infection-prevention and clinical-governance standards.
• Maintain valid NMCN registration/licence and MCPDP compliance, and comply with internal policies.
• Act as senior clinical resource for deteriorating-patient escalation and complex ward-based care decisions.
• Oversee shift handover quality and admission/discharge planning within assigned units.
Requirements
Experience:
• Minimum of 5 years of post-registration NMCN nursing experience, including experience providing and guiding nursing care within in-patient nursing or comparable services. Role-specific experience in a multidisciplinary team in a hospital setting relevant to in-patient nursing.
Education:
• Registered Nurse RN qualification from an accredited School/College of Nursing, or a Bachelor of Nursing Science BNSc/BSc Nursing from a recognised university. Completion of orientation/internship and NYSC or exemption, if applicable.
Required skills:
• Competence in nursing assessment, care planning, and safe medication administration.
• Understanding of patient safety, infection prevention and clinical governance.
• Accurate nursing record-keeping.
• Competent use of clinical systems.
• Effective communication with patients, families and colleagues.
