Job Summary • The Marketing &
• Sales Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing the hotel’s sales, marketing, business development, branding, and revenue generation strategies to maximize occupancy, increase revenue, strengthen market positioning, and enhance the hotel’s brand reputation.
• The role is responsible for driving room sales, food and beverage sales, conference and banquet business, corporate partnerships, leisure travel, group bookings, weddings, events, and other revenue-generating opportunities.

• Sales Manager develops integrated marketing campaigns, manages digital and traditional marketing initiatives, builds strategic business relationships, oversees sales performance, analyzes market trends, and ensures that all promotional activities align with the standards and objectives of a superior luxury hotel. Working closely with the General Manager, Director of Food &
• Beverage, Front Office Manager, Revenue/Reservations Team, and Finance Department, the role contributes significantly to revenue growth, profitability, guest acquisition, and customer retention.
Key Responsibilities
Sales Strategy &
• Business Development:
• Develop and implement comprehensive sales strategies to achieve the hotel’s revenue, occupancy, and profitability targets.
• Identify new business opportunities across corporate, government, diplomatic, leisure, travel, airline, NGO, educational, entertainment, and hospitality sectors.
• Develop annual, quarterly, and monthly sales plans aligned with the hotel’s strategic objectives.
• Expand the hotel’s market share through proactive business development initiatives.
• Conduct market research to identify emerging business opportunities.
• Build a strong pipeline of prospective clients and strategic partners.
• Prepare sales forecasts and business development reports.
• Monitor competitors’ pricing, promotions, and market positioning.
Corporate Sales &
• Account Management
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with corporate organizations, government agencies, embassies, NGOs, multinational companies, travel management companies, and key institutional clients.
• Negotiate corporate rate agreements and service contracts.
• Conduct regular client visits and business presentations.
• Maintain a portfolio of key corporate accounts.
• Ensure timely renewal of corporate agreements.
• Monitor client satisfaction and identify opportunities for account growth.
Hotel Revenue Generation
• Drive revenue across all hotel business units, including:
• Guest Rooms and Suites o Restaurants o Bars and Lounges o Conference &
• Banquet Facilities o Weddings and Social Events o Spa and Wellness Centre o Gym Memberships o Outdoor Catering Services o Business Centre o Laundry Services
• Airport Transfers and Concierge Services
• Develop promotional packages to increase occupancy and ancillary revenue.
• Collaborate with department heads to introduce revenue-enhancing initiatives.
Marketing Strategy &
• Brand Management
• Develop and execute integrated marketing strategies that strengthen brand visibility and market positioning.
• Ensure consistent application of the hotel’s brand identity across all marketing materials.
• Develop annual marketing calendars and promotional campaigns.
• Plan seasonal promotions, festive campaigns, and product launches.
• Coordinate brand partnerships and sponsorship opportunities.
• Protect and enhance the hotel’s reputation through effective brand management.
Digital Marketing &
• Online Presence
• Develop and manage digital marketing campaigns across multiple platforms.
• Oversee the hotel’s website content, search engine optimization (SEO), and online booking promotions.
• Manage social media marketing strategies across relevant platforms.
• Monitor online reviews and reputation management.
• Coordinate email marketing campaigns.
• Analyze digital marketing performance using analytics tools.
• Optimize digital advertising campaigns to maximize return on investment.
Advertising, Public Relations &
• Communications
• Coordinate advertising campaigns across print, radio, television, outdoor, and digital media.
• Build relationships with media organizations and influencers.
• Prepare press releases, promotional materials, and corporate communications.
• Coordinate media coverage of hotel events and activities.
• Manage public relations initiatives that enhance the hotel’s reputation.
• Support crisis communication efforts when required.
Events, Promotions &
• Partnerships
• Promote conferences, banquets, weddings, exhibitions, and special events.
• Develop strategic partnerships with event planners, travel agencies, tour operators, airlines, corporate organizations, and tourism stakeholders.
• Coordinate promotional events, exhibitions, trade fairs, and networking activities.
• Represent the hotel at industry events and business forums.
• Develop loyalty programmes and guest retention initiatives.
Sales Team Leadership &
• Performance Management
• Recruit, supervise, mentor, and develop Sales &
• Marketing team members.
• Set departmental goals, sales targets, and performance expectations.
• Conduct regular sales meetings and coaching sessions.
• Monitor individual and team performance against KPIs.
• Identify training and development needs.
• Promote a high-performance, customer-focused sales culture.
• Conduct performance appraisals and succession planning.
Revenue Management Support
• Work closely with the Front Office Manager and Reservations Team to optimize occupancy and Average Daily Rate (ADR).
• Monitor booking trends, occupancy forecasts, and market demand.
• Recommend pricing strategies in collaboration with management.
• Support revenue management initiatives to maximize RevPAR (Revenue Per Available Room).
• Analyze market demand and competitor pricing.
Budgeting &
• Financial Management
• Prepare annual Sales &
• Marketing budgets.
• Monitor departmental expenditure against approved budgets.
• Control marketing expenses while maximizing return on investment.
• Prepare monthly revenue forecasts.
• Analyze sales performance against financial targets.
• Recommend corrective actions to improve revenue performance.
Customer Relationship Management
• Develop and maintain an effective Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system.
• Monitor guest satisfaction and client feedback.
• Resolve customer complaints relating to sales and marketing activities.
• Strengthen customer loyalty through relationship-building initiatives.
• Maintain accurate client databases and sales records.
Reporting &
• Market Analysis
• Prepare daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual sales and marketing reports.
• Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and consumer behaviour.
• Analyze sales performance, campaign effectiveness, and return on investment.
• Present performance reports and recommendations to Management.
• Maintain accurate sales records, contracts, proposals, and marketing documentation.
Compliance &
• Continuous Improvement
• Ensure compliance with company policies, hospitality regulations, and brand standards.
• Maintain ethical marketing and sales practices.
• Participate in internal and external audits where required.
• Recommend innovative marketing initiatives and revenue enhancement opportunities.
• Promote continuous improvement across the Sales &
• Marketing function.
Requirements
• Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Hospitality Management, Sales Management, Mass Communication, Public Relations, or a related discipline.
• A Master’s Degree (MBA or related field) is an added advantage.
• 4–7 years of progressive experience in hotel sales, marketing, or business development.
• At least 5 years in a managerial role within a reputable luxury hotel or internationally branded hospitality establishment.
• Demonstrated success in corporate sales, revenue generation, digital marketing, and strategic partnerships.
Professional Certifications (Preferred)
• Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM).
• National Institute of Marketing of Nigeria (NIMN).
• Certified Digital Marketing Professional (CDMP).
• Google Ads and Google Analytics Certifications.
• HubSpot Inbound Marketing Certification.
• Project Management Professional (PMP) (added advantage).
