Role Level: L3 – Functional Officer
1. Role Purpose
The Accountant/Financial Officer is responsible for establishing and maintaining accurate financial records, managing payments and expense tracking, and supporting administrative processes across Future Shelters and Wade Foods. The role ensures strong financial discipline, visibility of cash flow, and proper documentation of all financial transactions while supporting the organisation in building structured, scalable operational systems.
2. Key Responsibilities
A. Financial Recording & Bookkeeping
• Maintain accurate records of all financial transactions including income, expenses, and transfers
• Manage and update the company’s chart of accounts
• Record all payments, receipts, and journal entries in a timely manner
• Maintain proper documentation and filing of financial records
B. Payments & Expense Management
• Process payments to vendors, staff, and other stakeholders in line with approval processes
• Track and document all expenses with supporting evidence
• Ensure no payment is made without proper documentation and approval
• Maintain records of recurring and operational expenses
C. Payables & Receivables Management
• Track amounts owed to suppliers and vendors (payables)
• Track customer and client payments (receivables)
• Follow up on outstanding receivables and provide regular updates
• Support structured collection processes
D. Reporting & Financial Visibility
• Prepare weekly cash position reports
• Provide monthly summaries of income and expenses
• Support preparation of basic financial statements (P&L, cash flow)
• Highlight anomalies, risks, or irregularities to management
E. Administrative & Process Support
• Support payroll preparation and staff payment records
• Assist in implementing structured administrative systems
• Maintain proper documentation of approvals and financial processes
• Support procurement documentation and tracking
• Handle documentation of critical organisational information.
F. Controls & Compliance
• Ensure adherence to financial controls and approval limits
• Support audit readiness through proper record-keeping
• Maintain confidentiality and integrity of financial information
3. Key Deliverables (First 90 Days)
• Fully functional expense tracking system
• Weekly cash position reporting in place
• Complete and structured record of all transactions
• Clear visibility of payables and receivables
• Basic financial reporting framework established

5. Preferred Qualifications & Experience
• Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• 1–4 years experience in accounting or bookkeeping roles
• Experience in SMEs or operational businesses is an advantage
• Familiarity with tools such as Excel, Zoho Books, QuickBooks, or similar

We are seeking a disciplined and detail-oriented Accountant to manage financial records, track expenses, manage company documentation and support the development of structured systems across our real estate and agribusiness operations. This role is ideal for someone who is practical, organized, and eager to take ownership of financial processes in a growing business.
Pay: From ₦1,800,000.00 per year
