Job Description
Responsibilities:
• Provide strategic leadership for the Bank's Finance Department and ensure effective financial management across the organization.
• Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with IFRS and applicable regulatory standards.
• Coordinate the preparation, implementation, monitoring, and review of the Bank's annual budget, financial forecasts, and long-term financial plans.
• Prepare periodic management accounts, financial performance reports, and executive dashboards to support informed decision-making.
• Oversee treasury operations, cash flow management, liquidity planning, and investment activities to ensure optimal utilization of financial resources.
• Ensure timely preparation and submission of all statutory and regulatory returns to the CBN, NDIC, FIRS, and other relevant regulatory agencies.
• Develop and maintain effective financial controls to safeguard the Bank's assets and ensure the integrity of financial records.
• Monitor the Bank's income, expenditure, profitability, capital adequacy, and overall financial performance, recommending corrective actions where necessary.
• Coordinate internal and external audits and implement recommendations arising from audit findings.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable tax laws, accounting standards, and regulatory reporting requirements.
• Provide financial analysis for strategic initiatives, new products, investments, and business expansion opportunities.
• Work closely with Operations, Credit, Risk & Compliance, Internal Audit, and IT to strengthen financial governance and operational efficiency.
• Supervise, mentor, and develop members of the Finance team to achieve departmental objectives and promote continuous professional development.
• Advise Executive Management and the Board on financial risks, business performance, and opportunities for sustainable growth.
• Perform any other duties assigned by Executive Management or the Board.
Requirements:
• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related discipline.
• ACA (ICAN) or ACCA.
• MCIB certification.
• Minimum of 5 years' post-qualification experience, with at least 4 years in the financial services industry and 2 years in a management or supervisory role, in line with CBN competency requirements for Key Management Staff of Microfinance Banks.
• Strong knowledge of IFRS, financial reporting, treasury management, budgeting, taxation, financial analysis, and banking operations.
• Sound understanding of CBN Regulatory and Supervisory Guidelines for Microfinance Banks and other applicable financial regulations.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, financial reporting applications, and core banking systems.
• Strong analytical, leadership, communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• High level of integrity, professionalism, accuracy, and attention to detail.
• Professional certifications such as ACIB, CFA, CISA, CAMS, or a Master's Degree will be an added advantage.
