Job Description
Role Summary The Operating Room Nurse will provide specialised perioperative care and support surgical procedures from patient preparation through recovery handover. The nurse will work closely with surgeons, anaesthetists, and other theatre personnel to maintain patient safety and efficient theatre operations.
Key Responsibilities
• Prepare patients, instruments, equipment, and supplies for surgical procedures.
• Maintain sterile fields and enforce infection-prevention protocols.
• Assist the surgical team during procedures.
• Conduct and document instrument, needle, and swab counts.
• Monitor patients and report changes in their condition promptly.
• Support safe patient transfer and provide accurate postoperative handovers.
• Maintain complete surgical and patient-care documentation.
• Ensure theatre equipment is cleaned, checked, and ready for use.
• Participate in emergency procedures, clinical audits, and quality-improvement activities.
Requirements
• Registered Nurse qualification.
• Valid Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria practising licence.
• Minimum of 4–5 years of operating room experience.
• Relevant perioperative or theatre nursing certification.
• Strong knowledge of aseptic techniques, surgical safety, and infection control.
• Ability to work calmly and accurately under pressure.
• Willingness to support other clinical functions when required.
Pay: ₦450,000.00 - ₦500,000.00 per month
