JOB SUMMARY
Our client, a growing financial services company, is seeking an experienced and strategic Head of Human Resources to lead the Company's people function and provide comprehensive HR leadership across the organization. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing HR strategies that support business growth, employee performance, talent acquisition, engagement, retention, learning and development, compensation, performance management, and compliance.
The role requires a commercially minded HR professional who can work closely with senior management to build a high-performing workforce and establish structured HR systems, policies, and processes suitable for a regulated financial services environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES1. HR Strategy & Leadership
• Develop and implement the Company's HR strategy in alignment with overall business objectives.
• Serve as a strategic HR advisor to the CEO and management team on people-related matters.
• Develop and continuously improve HR policies, procedures, SOPs, and employee guidelines.
• Establish structured HR processes that support organizational growth and operational efficiency.
• Provide management with regular insights and recommendations on workforce trends, employee performance, and organizational needs.
2. Talent Acquisition & Workforce Planning
• Lead end-to-end recruitment activities across all levels of the organization.
• Develop effective talent sourcing strategies for critical and specialized financial services roles.
• Partner with management and department heads to identify workforce requirements and staffing priorities.
• Build and maintain a strong talent pipeline for current and future business needs.
• Ensure effective onboarding and integration of new employees.
3. Performance Management
• Develop and manage the Company's performance management framework.
• Establish clear KPIs and performance expectations in collaboration with department heads.
• Coordinate performance reviews, appraisals, probation assessments, and performance improvement plans.
• Support managers in addressing performance gaps and improving employee productivity.
• Promote a culture of accountability, continuous feedback, and high performance.
4. Compensation, Benefits & Payroll
• Manage the Company's compensation and benefits structure.
• Conduct periodic salary and benefits reviews and provide recommendations to management.
• Oversee payroll processes and ensure accuracy, confidentiality, and timely payment.
• Manage employee benefits, including HMO, pension, leave, and other welfare programs.
• Support the development of competitive compensation structures that promote retention and internal equity.
5. Employee Relations & Engagement
• Manage employee relations matters and provide guidance on workplace issues.
• Handle grievances, disciplinary matters, conflict resolution, and employee investigations professionally.
• Develop initiatives that improve employee engagement, satisfaction, and retention.
• Promote a positive, inclusive, and high-performance workplace culture.
• Maintain appropriate documentation of employee relations and disciplinary processes.
6. Learning & Development
• Identify organizational and individual training needs.
• Develop and coordinate annual learning and development plans.
• Recommend relevant technical, leadership, compliance, and professional development programs.
• Evaluate training effectiveness and its impact on employee performance.
• Support career development and succession planning initiatives.
7. HR Compliance & Risk Management
• Ensure HR policies and practices comply with applicable Nigerian employment laws and regulatory requirements.
• Maintain accurate and confidential employee records and documentation.
• Ensure proper administration of employment contracts, staff handbooks, leave records, disciplinary documentation, and other HR records.
• Partner with management and relevant stakeholders on HR-related risk and compliance matters.
• Maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive employee and business information.
8. Organizational Development
• Support organizational restructuring, workforce planning, and change management initiatives.
• Develop succession plans for critical roles.
• Identify organizational capability gaps and recommend appropriate interventions.
• Support management in developing organizational structures, job descriptions, and career pathways.
• Promote HR systems and processes that improve employee productivity and organizational effectiveness.
9. HR Reporting & Analytics
• Prepare regular HR reports for the CEO and management team.
• Track key HR metrics including headcount, turnover, retention, recruitment timelines, absenteeism, payroll costs, performance, and employee engagement.
• Use HR data and analytics to identify workforce trends and support management decision-making.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date HR databases and records.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Industrial Relations, Psychology, or a related discipline.
• Professional HR certification such as CIPM, SHRM, HRCI, or equivalent is an added advantage.
• Minimum of 6 years' progressive HR experience, with at least 3 years in a senior HR leadership or management position.
• Experience within Financial Services, Banking, Fintech, Investment, Insurance, or another regulated industry is highly desirable.
• Proven experience managing end-to-end HR operations and developing HR policies and systems.
• Strong experience in recruitment, employee relations, performance management, compensation and benefits, and HR compliance.
• Demonstrated ability to work directly with senior management and influence business decisions through effective people strategies.
• Strong knowledge of Nigerian employment practices and HR compliance requirements.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and HRIS platforms.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: ₦450,000.00 - ₦550,000.00 per month
