Role Overview
• We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Assistant Branch Accountant to support the Branch Accountant in managing the branch’s financial records, transactions, reconciliations, and reporting.
• The successful candidate will assist in ensuring accurate financial documentation, proper cash management, compliance with accounting procedures, and timely preparation of financial reports.
Key Responsibilities
• Assist in maintaining accurate and up-to-date branch financial records and accounting entries.
• Support the preparation of daily, weekly, and monthly financial reports.
• Record and process branch expenses, sales, receipts, payments, and other financial transactions.
• Assist with daily cash and bank reconciliations and investigate discrepancies.
• Monitor branch cash collections and ensure timely banking of funds.
• Verify invoices, receipts, payment requests, and other supporting documents before processing.
• Assist in monitoring accounts receivable and follow up on outstanding balances.
• Support the preparation and review of branch budgets and expenditure reports.
• Ensure proper filing and maintenance of accounting documents and records.
• Assist with stock and inventory reconciliations in collaboration with the warehouse and sales teams.
• Support internal and external audit activities by providing required financial records and documentation.
• Ensure compliance with company accounting policies, procedures, and relevant financial regulations.
• Identify and report financial discrepancies, irregularities, or control weaknesses to the Branch Accountant.
• Assist with payroll-related documentation and other branch financial matters where required.
• Perform other accounting and administrative duties as assigned by the Branch Accountant or Finance Manager.
Key Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree / HND in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Minimum of 3years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in a branch or retail environment.
• Good knowledge of basic accounting principles and financial reporting.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other accounting software.
• Strong numerical and analytical skills.
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Good organizational and time-management skills.
• Ability to reconcile accounts and identify discrepancies.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle financial information responsibly.
• Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision and meet deadlines.
• Female is preferred (for gender balance).
