Petrok Engineering Services Limited
, on behalf of its client, is seeking an experienced
Legal Counsel
to join its legal function in Lagos, Nigeria.
This is a senior opportunity for a legal professional with strong experience supporting
oil and gas exploration and production operations
, together with the commercial and legal judgement required to advise on transactions, contracts, financing and regulatory matters.
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for a legal professional who has:
• A
Bachelor’s degree in Law or Juris Doctor degree
.
• Successful completion of the
Nigerian Law School
and membership of the
Nigerian Bar Association
.
• At least
10 years’ experience providing legal support within a producing oil and gas exploration and production company
.
• Strong experience in the
Nigerian legal and oil & gas environment
.
• Proven capability in
contracts, transaction structuring, negotiations and legal documentation
.
• Experience advising on E&P activities, including exploration, development and production matters.
• Exposure to
capital markets transactions, debt and equity financing
is highly desirable.
• Strong understanding of corporate law, with knowledge of
Nigerian, UK and US corporate law
.
• Excellent judgement, communication, analytical and relationship-management skills.
• High professional integrity and the ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters.
Experience in
indigenous exploration and production
and prior experience in a law firm will be an advantage.
