Job Description
About Kamen
Kamen Construction Limited is a Nigerian infrastructure development and construction company delivering roads, drainage, water, electrical infrastructure, buildings, and other integrated infrastructure solutions.
Through Kamen Infrastructure Development Services (KAMEN-IDS), Kamen is developing a structured infrastructure delivery and financing platform that enables governments, real estate developers, corporate organisations, communities, and private clients to deliver infrastructure through flexible financing arrangements.
As we enter our next phase of growth, we are seeking a commercially driven and highly capable Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to lead our financial strategy, capital raising, project finance, investment structuring, treasury, and financial governance.
This is not a conventional accounting-focused CFO position. We are looking for a finance leader who can help build Kamen's financial architecture, raise equity and debt, establish project SPVs, structure infrastructure transactions, and develop strong relationships with banks, investors, capital houses, and institutional funding partners.
The Role The CFO will be a key member of Kamen's executive management team and will report directly to the Managing Director/CEO.
The successful candidate will lead the company's corporate finance strategy while serving as the financial champion for KAMEN-IDS and its project-financing platform.
The role combines corporate finance, capital raising, project finance, treasury, investment management, and financial governance.
Key Responsibilities
1. Corporate Finance & Strategy
• Develop and execute Kamen's financial strategy and capital structure.
• Lead budgeting, forecasting, financial modelling, and capital allocation.
• Provide the CEO and Board with financial and strategic decision support.
• Improve profitability, cash generation and return on invested capital.
• Establish strong financial controls, policies and governance.
2. Capital Raising & Investor Relations
• Develop and execute Kamen's equity and debt capital-raising strategy.
• Identify and build relationships with private equity funds, infrastructure funds, family offices, banks, development finance institutions, institutional investors, private credit funds and capital-market operators.
• Prepare investment teasers, information memoranda, financial models and investor presentations.
• Lead investor discussions, due diligence and transaction negotiations.
• Build and manage a pipeline of potential investors and financing partners.
• Lead successful equity investment transactions for Kamen and its projects.
3. KAMEN-IDS Project Finance & SPVs
• Develop the financial architecture for KAMEN-IDS.
• Establish and manage appropriate Project Special Purpose Vehicles (SPVs).
• Structure project-level financing and determine the appropriate mix of equity, debt, client contributions, supplier credit, and other funding sources.
• Develop detailed project financial models covering construction costs, cash flow, revenues, financing costs, profitability, IRR, DSCR, payback and sensitivity analysis.
• Assess the bankability of projects before financial commitment.
• Coordinate financial close and project-financing processes.
• Ensure project funds are appropriately ring-fenced and controlled.
• Monitor the financial performance of project SPVs.
4. Debt, Debentures & Structured Finance
• Lead Kamen's debt-financing initiatives.
• Develop relationships with banks, investment firms, capital houses and private credit providers.
• Structure and negotiate corporate loans, project finance, debentures, private debt, asset-backed financing, receivables-backed financing, bridge financing and other structured-finance facilities.
• Negotiate financing terms including pricing, tenor, security, covenants and repayment structures.
• Coordinate lender due diligence and financial documentation.
5. Treasury & Cash Flow
• Lead Kamen's treasury function and group-wide cash management.
• Establish rolling cash-flow forecasts and liquidity controls.
• Optimise working capital and cash conversion.
• Manage banking relationships and financing facilities.
• Ensure proper utilisation of project funds and timely debt servicing.
• Establish early-warning indicators for liquidity and financial risk.
6. Financial Reporting, Risk & Governance
• Lead the Finance & Accounts function and ensure accurate and timely management reporting.
• Strengthen budgeting, variance analysis, receivables and payables management.
• Coordinate audits, tax compliance, and statutory reporting.
• Develop financial risk-management and internal-control systems.
• Ensure effective financial governance across Kamen and its project SPVs.
7. Leadership
• Build and lead a high-performance Finance, Treasury, Investment and Capital Management team.
• Establish clear KPIs and accountability.
• Work closely with Projects, Commercial, Procurement, Business Development and Operations to ensure projects are commercially viable and properly funded.
Key Performance Measures The CFO will be measured primarily by business outcomes, including:
• Equity capital successfully raised.
• Debt and debenture financing successfully secured.
• Number and value of financing transactions closed.
• Capital raised for KAMEN-IDS projects.
• Number of project SPVs established and financed.
• Successful financial closes.
• Cost and structure of capital achieved.
• Project profitability and return on capital.
• Cash-flow and liquidity performance.
• Quality of investor and lender relationships.
• Strength of financial controls and reporting.
Qualifications & Experience
• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration or related discipline.
• Professional qualification such as ACA, ACCA, CFA, CIMA or equivalent.
• Minimum 10–15 years' relevant experience, including substantial senior-management experience.
• Proven experience in corporate finance, project finance, investment banking, structured finance or infrastructure financing.
• Demonstrable experience raising equity and/or debt capital.
• Strong financial-modelling and transaction-structuring skills.
• Experience negotiating with banks, investors and capital providers.
• Strong understanding of Nigerian financial and capital markets.
Experience in construction, infrastructure, real estate, private equity, private credit, development finance or investment banking will be highly advantageous.
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for a builder, not just a financial controller.
The ideal candidate must be commercially astute, entrepreneurial, analytical, and highly skilled in financial modelling, deal structuring, and negotiation. He or she should be comfortable engaging CEOs, investors, fund managers, bankers, government stakeholders, and other sophisticated capital providers.
Most importantly, candidates must demonstrate actual transactions completed, not simply experience preparing financial reports. Candidates who have personally led or materially contributed to successful equity raises, debt transactions, debentures, project-finance deals, or investment transactions will have a significant advantage.
Our Expectation
Within the first 12–18 months, the CFO should help Kamen transition from a predominantly construction-company financing model toward an institutional infrastructure-financing platform, capable of:
Originate → Structure → Finance → Execute → Monitor → Recycle Capital across a growing portfolio of infrastructure projects.
Application
Interested candidates should submit a detailed CV highlighting their experience in capital raising, corporate finance, project finance, investment banking, debt/equity transactions, and infrastructure financing.
Candidates should clearly identify significant transactions they have personally led or materially contributed to, including the approximate value and nature of each transaction.
